FAQ for High School Course

What do you do once you decide to take PPEL 101?

In the fall, complete the UA high school admissions application and return the signed Parent Permission Form to your course instructor.

 

What is the process for applying to the UA?

The admissions application can be done online or by completing a paper application. Either process takes about 10 minutes to complete and there is no fee to apply.

 

What information do you need to have ready before starting your UA application?

The application for high school non-degree seeking students is very straightforward and asks for information that you already know (i.e. name, address, email, ethnicity, etc.). You will not be asked for grades, transcripts, or immunization records.

 

Do you have to give a social security number?

No, this is not required by UA admissions.

 

What is the cost and procedure for paying for the textbook?

The cost of the textbook is $35. Your school may have purchased in advance.

 

What if you do not have Internet access?

Printed materials will be available.

 

When are tuition payments due?

The $465 tuition payment is due by October 13 for the fall semester and March 1 for the spring semester.

 

Are scholarships available?

Partial scholarships (ranging from $100 - $400) will be available to students with demonstrated financial need and who submit a one-page essay. Instructors will have application information available in August for fall semester and October for spring semester.

 

How do you pay your UA tuition?

Once students are admitted to the University of Arizona as non-degree seeking students and enrolled in the class, the instructor will have students register for a NETID and UA email.  A bill will be generated by the Bursar’s office and sent to the UA email address.  Students (parents) will pay online with a credit card or by check. (To avoid credit card fees, pay electronically with routing and bank account information.)

 

Will registered students receive a UA email address? A CatCard?

All registered students are eligible to receive a CatCard which may be obtained at the UA Student Union CatCard Office. There is a $25 fee. The CatCard gives you access to the University libraries and student discounts around Tucson.
