Maria Porter

Maria received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago. She also has a courtesy appointment in UA’s Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics. Prior to the University of Arizona, Maria was faculty in the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics at Michigan State University. From 2009-2013, she was a research fellow at Nuffield College at the University of Oxford. Her research areas are in applied microeconomics, agricultural economics, risk and insurance, impact evaluation, social preferences, and intra-household resource allocation. Her research has been published in the Economic Journal, Economic Development and Cultural Change, the Journal of Development Studies, and the Journal of Economic Psychology. Maria has taught courses in intermediate microeconomics, household and development economics, behavioral and experimental economics, and econometrics.
