Peter Vanderschraaf received his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of California at Irvine. He has had visiting appointments at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Boston University and the Institute for Advanced Study. His research focuses on social conventions, game theory, market processes, and their roles in understanding social contracts. He is the author of Strategic Justice: Convention and Problems of Balancing Divergent Interests (Oxford University Press 2019) and Bargaining Theory (Cambridge University Press 2023). From 2022 to the present he has been an editor of the interdisciplinary journal Economics and Philosophy (Cambridge University Press). He has taught courses in political philosophy, economic analysis, democracy and social choice, and game theory and the social contract.
