Applications for advanced standing in PPEL starting in September 2019 will be accepted this March. The PPEL program anticpates an increased intake for September 2019, while maintaing small class size.

Vernon Smith joins Political Economy and Moral Science as a Research Professor

We are honored to announce that Nobel Laureate Vernon L. Smith is joining our Department as a Research Professor.  Professor Smith was a mentor of Dave Schmidtz's in the 1980s when Dave was finishing his graduate work in Economics. Professor Smith was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2002 for helping to launch the field of experimental economics. In the process he helped to shift the focus of economics somewhat away from generating theorems and toward empirical testability.

PPEL to be offered in Peru at the Universidad Peruana De Ciencias Aplicadas

Universidad Peruana De Ciencias Aplicadas and University of Arizona signed a contract to offer a B.A. in PPEL + M.S. in Entrepreneurship on the campus of UPC.

Lusch Lecture Series - First Lecture Feb. 12

We are pleased to share the first lecture in the Robert Lusch Lecture Series, named in honor of Robert Lusch, former Executive Director of the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship. Bob Lusch was a prolific researcher, author, and educator, known widely for his work in service-dominic logic. Steve Vargo, Shidler Distinguished Professor and Professor of Marketing at the University of Hawaii, will deliver the first lecture.

New Department of Political Economy & Moral Science Approved

New department approved by ABOR

The Arizona Board of Regents has approved a new Department of Political Economy & Moral Science within the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The new department will support two academic degrees, a currently available BA in Philosophy, Politics, Economics, and Law (PPEL) and a future MA.
